Cat Urbigkit at the Story Library!

Cat and Pat!

Cat with several of her Pastoral Portraits!

Stevie and Patty!

Cat and Cowboy Jackson!

Wyoming author- photographer, Cat Urbigkit, gave a wonderful presentation about her black and white photographs depicting herders and their animals from various corners of the world! The information was fascinating and the photographs were stunning! Above are a few shots of some attendees enjoying themselves!

We were also able to purchase autographed nonfiction children’s and adult books by Cat!

This program was made possible through the generous support of numerous individuals and organizations. Partial funding for the exhibit is provided through grants by the Wyoming Arts Council and the Wyoming Humanities Council, with grant administration and supervision provided by the Wyoming Wool Growers Assn and the Green River Valley Museum. United States Artists provided the organizational structure for all other donations.

Community Connections Project Photos!

Four “old” ways to have fun…puppet dolls, stereopticon, beading, and twisted string games!

Jacks in the gym!

The first April meeting of the Community Connections Project was held at the Story Elementary School, where the teacher and students demonstrated several of the school’s latest technological advances, from  smart-board (No more chalkboards!) and scanner/projector (No more overhead transparencies!) to the iPads provided to each student for their educational use.  Each student then wowed their adult teammates with a demonstration of how they use their iPad for studying math and reading skills and to generate reports. Impressive!

After the technology demonstrations, adults took their teammates back in time to the age-old eye-hand coordination skill of playing jacks. Not as easy as it looks! At least as challenging as iPad navigation!

Meeting at the Women’s Club for museum tours and antique experiences:

The Story Library and Story Elementary School are hosting this Community Connections Project to promote teamwork and friendships between different generations of Story residents. We hope the art of storytelling and listening, the sharing of the history of Story, and getting to know someone of a different generation in our own community, will enrich the lives of all who participate.

We will continue the project through the end of April! Check back for more pictures!
