Sheridan County Fulmer Library News

Fulmer Library Hot Spot

The Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library now offers wireless Internet connectivity to patrons at least 18 years of age. A connection requires a "ticket" containing a session time and a unique username and password. Tickets may be requested at the main desk for sessions of 1 or 2 hours. Printing is not available via wireless connectivity. In addition to wireless Internet access the Fulmer Library offers -15- Internet terminals for public use in one-hour sessions: 14 adult, 4 young adult and 1 child.

Friends of the Library Book Sale

Book lovers may now enjoy the Friends of the Library Book Sale year-round at the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library. Instead of saving donated books for the June book sale, they are now placed on a cart near the main desk and are available for purchase during library hours. Patrons decide what the books are worth to them and pay accordingly. The cart is resupplied weekly from books donated by the public. When donated books are received they are first evaluated by staff. Some are placed in the collection of the Fulmer Library or one of the branch libraries in Clearmont, Story, Ranchester; the others are given to the Friends for their book sale. Because of the success of the book cart sale, the Friends of the Library will not hold their annual Used Book Sale this year.

Book Club Kits Available at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library

In response to the popularity of book discussion groups, the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library has added book club kits to its circulating collection. The program, called Books on the Move, was developed by circulation manager Marci Mock, and currently offers over 30 titles including The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith; Fools Crow by James Welch, and Rising from the Plains by John McPhee. Each kit contains multiple copies of the book, plus discussion questions, author biographies and a list of suggested further reading. Each kit may be checked out for -6- weeks. For a complete list of titles, log into the library's online catalog, WYLD Cat, and search using the title "Book Club Kits," or stop by the library and pick up a Books on the Move brochure.
