Displays at Story Branch Library

This month's displays are Emi Wright's landscape and wildlife paintings and Karylyn Petrie's Fairy Collection.  They are both great and we hope you can stop in to see them!

Emi started her painting about 15 years ago when she did "Tole" Painting, which is the folk art of decorative painting on tin or wooden objects and furniture.  Now Emi mostly paints with acrylics, though she does do some work with watercolors too. She usually likes to paint from photographs and she makes her own frames.  Besides the paintings, Emi has a couple of hand-knit and felted (wool washed in a washing machine) purses and booties on display.

All of Emi's items, plus many more, will be on display and for sale beginning May 1st at the Story Art Station!

Here's Emi's "Wall of Paintings"....
....and one of her favorite birds!

She really enjoyed painting the fawn.

This is one of the two great cabin paintings that Emi has done!

Karylyn started collecting fairies "just because she liked them" a couple of years ago.  She really has a great variety of them in her collection!  One is made of cast iron, several are ceramic, some are glass and one is made of fabric!

Karylyn has received many of the fairies as gifts and she also noted that the display at the library is just a small part of her whole collection, many of which are outside fairies.

Here are several of Karylyn's charming
fairies.  She even has some delightful
fairy books!
This fariry is one of Karylyn's favorites.

The fairy in the center is made of cast
iron and the other two are ceramic.
The "Fairy Sprite" on the left is from Asiago, Italy and the "Dandelion Fairy" on the right is from Dublin, Ireland!

These are just a few of the items on display.  Thanks so much to Karylyn and Emi for sharing their art with us and we hope all of you can stop in to see them!

*If you have art work or a collection that you would like to display at the Story Library, please give us a call or stop by and let us know!  Thanks!
